Vanessa Selbst
Vanessa Selbst is the best female poker player to date in live poker tournament history - based on tournament winnings. The American became the first female poker player to reach $10 million in live tournament winnings, cementing her place in poker history and helping to elevate her name as one of the most recognisable in the game. In 2018, she claimed to be retired from poker, but has since played several tournaments - albeit smaller than her usual high stakes buyins.
Among a whole host of successes over an illustrious career, Selbst has had three standout wins that were especially significant, where she won $1,000,000+. The first was in 2010 at the Partouche Poker Tour in Cannes, where she won the No-Limit Hold’em Main Event and turned €8,500 into €1.3 million.
Three years later, she won $1million+ again, this time at the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure High Roller. Once again, Selbst won the tournament and turned $25,000 into over $1.4million.
The final $1million score came in 2015. Selbst bought into the $100,000 Super High Roller Celebrity Shootout in Las Vegas and won it, pocketing $1million.
